Climate Of Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a tropical country situated between 8 and 11 degrees above the equator. Primarily, there are only two seasons experienced in these beautiful lands, which are known to the residents as Verano (summer), and Invierno (winter).


1) Dry (Verano/summer)… and

The dry season (usually with very little rain ;) is generally between late December and April

2) GREEN! (Invierno/winter)

The green, or wet, season lasts the REST of the year - May through November. However, this season still offers an average of about 5 hours of daily sunshine.


Osa

Specifically, on the Osa Peninsula temperatures seldom drop below 27C (80F), in the wet winter season and may exceed 35C (95F) in the dry summer season. The humidity is usually in the 60% - 100% range.


Rainfall On Osa

On the OSA Peninsula rainfall ranges anywhere from 4 to 7 meters (160 to 280 inches) annually and falls mainly in the Green Winter season, with the heaviest rainfall in October. It rains every day in the winter, with heavy showers in the afternoon and evening. At times, rainfall can be torrential and accompanied by thunder and lightning. Swollen rivers and flooding can result if the thunderstorms persist. Throughout this rainy season, forest trails are muddy and in places very slippery.
